ADOBE MAX Los Angeles | Expressive Collaborative Portrait

At ADOBE MAX Los Angeles, participants took part in an expressive collaborative portrait workshop led by mixed-media artist Christian Clayton. The session invited attendees to co-create dynamic, mixed-media portraits by contributing to a shared drawing in a fast-paced, rotating format. As the artwork moved quickly from artist to artist, the process fostered spontaneity, unpredictability, and a sense of collective authorship—turning the experience into a live, original artistic happening.

Throughout the workshop, Christian provided prompts and guidance at each stage, encouraging participants to experiment, respond intuitively to others’ marks, and consider what it truly meant to be an active collaborator. The emphasis was on process as much as outcome, allowing each drawing to evolve organically through many creative voices.

By the end of the session, every participant left with a one-of-a-kind, poster-size collaborative portrait, signed by the entire group—serving as both a finished artwork and a record of a shared creative experience at Adobe MAX.
